Amazon Makes a Shift for Redshift ML

Is it me or do we seem closer to creating iRobot? If we do, can we make sure that we don’t put another robot in charge? Or can we opt out of this whole package completely?

What’s up everybody! Will here and for all of you who are new here. Thank you so much for joining us. Go ahead and click that subscribe button. Stay up to date and we’ve got some interesting news for those who are interested in machine learning.

Amazon announced at the start of this month the general availability of Redshift ML.

Amazon Redshift ML makes it easy for data analysts and database developers to create, train, and apply machine learning models using familiar SQL commands in Amazon Redshift data warehouses.

The general availability though changes the game for machine learning with AWS. See, previously, if you wanted to process data using Amazon Redshift, you had to export your data to an Amazon Simple Server bucket. From there you can configure it and start training. This process was very cumbersome and needed several people to complete. This barred entry for many into this field.

With this new change, it can be done very simply. Using Redshift ML, all the user has to do is run an SQL query specifying the training data and what they are trying to predict. From there the data is pushed to a simple server bucket then calls Amazon’s Sage Maker, or whichever algorithm you wish to utilize, and training begins.

Everything in Redshift ML is run by Redshift ML, this includes Redshift, simple servers, and even Sage Maker. Amazon also claims that you will only need to pay for what you use. They have recently been creating a lot of high-level offerings. This is to make it easier for developers and customers to use some of the complex services it provides, and Redshift ML is a step forward in this process.

With this notion that artificial intelligence can learn from data, identify patterns and make decisions with minimal human intervention can help predict business ventures and more. Advanced analytics and data science can help provide you with the ability to gain better insights into your valuable data.

What are your thoughts on making machine learning more accessible to developers? And do you think I can get my own robot in the near future? Let us know in the comments down below. This is definitely a big change for machine learning and might spur on others to make it easier as well. Thank you guys for watching. And I’ll see y’all in the next video.
